Donor Stewardship
Donor recognition is about thanking your donors for their generous donation. It also provides accountability to the organization’s fundraising initiatives and reinforces the benefits of donating to your cause. Thanking donors also gives fundraisers the opportunity to celebrate the beginning of a new project or completion of one. Thanking donors can come in a variety of means, including letters, telephone calls, events and donor walls at your office. However, you thank your donors, make sure you thank them and thank them again.
Gift Acknolwedgement
Recognizing and thanking donors is a critical step and can be considered the final step in receiving a gift but is also the first step in getting the next gift. Sending out that thank you letter shortly after receiving the donation is key. Donors want to receive acknowledgement right away and not have to wait weeks or months – something that could seriously hinder the donor from giving again.

Donor Welcome Kits
For new donors to your organization it is important to thank them but to also send them information about your organization, often referred to as a “welcome package”. These welcome packages are arguably one of the most important packages your donors will receive.
